Hometown: Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil
Renato obtained a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Espírito Santo. After briefly working as a water resources consultant, he moved to Iowa City where he concluded his studies under Prof. Witold Krajewski, obtaining a MS and a PhD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa. Renato focuses in data assimilation techniques and uncertainty propagation within hydrologic and ecosystem models. His long term goal is to understand how changes in land use impact the water cycle.
Renato enjoys visiting railway and transportation museums with this 3 year old son, birdwatching, and biking. He rode in Iowa’s 2011 RAGBRAI.
